We want to help people discover a personal relationship with Jesus, to grow deeper in that relationship, and to spread the gospel through church partnerships locally and around the world.

Love God

Mark 12:30 “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”

We recognize that we cannot love God properly until we trust Him fully. We must first place our faith and trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord. After this, we strive to love Him more and more each day.

Grow Together

Acts 2:46 “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house…”

We need other believers around us in order to GROW. Jesus gave us the church which is an assembly of believers together. We grow by meeting together and taking steps of obedience as the Holy Spirit speaks to us.

Serve Others

1 Peter 4:10 “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

Galatians 5:13c “…by love serve one another.”

We have been called by God to serve others. Further we have been given a gift by God in order to serve. At Cornerstone we want to provide opportunities to serve other believers as well as our lost community.

What We Believe

We believe in one God, Who is a personal and eternal Spirit, perfect and unchangeable in all of His attributes. This one God eternally exists in three Persons, impossible of division but capable of distinction as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; all having precisely the same nature and attributes and all being worthy of the same homage, confidence, and obedience.

We believe that God created man (Adam) in innocence and in His own image, and by voluntary transgression, he sinned against God and fell from his sinless and happy state of perfection (Genesis 3), in consequence of which, all born after Adam are now sinners, totally depraved, and therefore under just condemnation without defense or excuse and are guilty before God.

We believe that salvation is of the Lord on the merit of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free gift which excludes any possible merit on the basis of works. We believe that the two essential doctrines that must be presented to every lost person are repentance and faith. We also believe that, once a person has been saved, there is no chance of him ever going to hell, and he is eternally secure in Christ.

The Church: We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ founded the Church, and commissioned it, and that a church is a group of baptized believers in whom Christ dwells, and they in Him, under the discipline of the Word of God, organized for evangelism, education, worship, and the administration of the ordinances. Each local church is to be self-governing and congregational in government. Further, each local church is to be the sole judge of measure and manner of its cooperation; in all matters of membership, of policy, of government, of discipline, and of benevolence; the will of the local church is final. Christ is the Chief Shepherd; the Pastor is the undershepherd of the flock. The congregation follows and supports the Pastor, as he follows Christ. Cornerstone is independent. The only authority over it is Christ and the Word of God.

We believe that the two ordinances which accompany the Gospel are Believer’s Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism, following faith in Christ, is by immersion in water, and symbolizes the identification of the believer with Christ in death, burial, resurrection, and new life. We believe that immersion in water is the only Scriptural mode of baptism. The Lord’s Supper is to be observed as a memorial of the death of Christ. The elements symbolize His broken body and shed blood. The elements shall be unleavened bread and grape juice.

We believe that everyone needs Jesus and that the command to go and preach the Gospel to the entire world is clear and unmistakable. The great commission was given to all believers. Following New Testament precedent and example, we believe that all missionary endeavors should be under the ultimate sponsorship of the local congregation and that no mission board should ever misconstrue its purpose to attempt to hold or to assign authority to itself.
